I'm going to leave the map at the beginning of each page to help you visualize where we are.

2/23/2017 (Thursday) It was only a short sail to Montevideo and we arrived early in the morning.
A strange thing we discovered in the harbor was this ship graveyard. Every one of these ships is a derelict.
While at breakfast that morning the captain came by, and Judy had her picture taken with him. He came on in Valparaiso and the original captain went home. I suppose they have "tours of duty".
We took a winery tour in the afternoon, so we were able to relax in the morning. As the bus was going to the winery, we passed areas of serious poverty.
And also fields of Pampas Grass. This is the Pampas, after all:-)
We eventually came to the wine country and the vineyards.
Then we arrived at the Juanico Winery, where we are to have our winery tour and tasting.
First we saw one of the vineyards to see the workers picking grapes.
They didn't show us the wine making process, but took us directly to the wine cellar.
The cellar was dug into the earth, where they aged the wine. The cellar was built in the late 1800's, but I don't remember the exact date.
Judy in the cellar.
Then we went upstairs to the tasting - and a snack. It was a beautifully prepared table, with snack meats, bread and cheese.
These are the wines we tasted: one white, three reds, and a dessert wine.
Here we are tasting the white wine - and looking over the price list for the wines.
Of course, many people bought wine. We bought a bottle of the dessert wine. Here's a picture of Brenda, Bob, and Judy. I had forgotten my wallet and cash, and Bob lent me some money to buy the dessert wine. Thanks, Bob!
Then it was back to the ship. That evening, the crew put on the "Crew Follies" where they did some song and dance numbers for the passengers. This first one was a singer backed by a dance group.
This group did a Filipino dance that involved the two dancers dancing between two poles, while the guys holding the poles clacked them together rhythmically. We kept wondering if they would get their feet smashed but they always danced out in time.
That evening, we had dinner with Stan and Jacki, and Ken and Sue. The girls sort of "went wild", as you can see here. We were lucky we didn't get thrown out, or "invited to leave the ship".
